PRACHANDA, MOHAN BAIDHAYA MEET Kathmandu, 1 June: Maoist Chairman Prachanda Friday told dissident First Vice-chairman Mohan Baidhaya he’s ready to quit as party boss for party unity. The two top Maoist leaders held discussions amid open talk of a split in the country’s largest party leading the government. Meanwhile, Baidhaya told reporters Friday his faction is preparing to launch a new party with support of other like-minded parties. The Maoist splinter group is currently holding anti- establishment street protests with support of other left fringe parties. Nnnn MJFN DEMANDS PREMIER BHATTARAI’S RESIGNATION Kathmandu, 1 June: The Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF)-Nepal, Morang District Committee, has demanded immediate resignation of Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai to give an outlet to the country, RSS reports from Biratnagar.. Issuing a press statement today, secretary of party's Morang district committee Radhe Kamat demanded to form a national election government. The statement further reads that continuous struggle would be launched against the anti-federalist forces and charged the major political parties for being against federalism and anti-Madhes. In the press statement the MJF-Nepal also made it clear that the party has not teamed up with the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML). Nnnn NATIONAL CONSENSUS A PREREQUISITE Kathmandu, 1 June:: Speakers at a programme on Friday has stressed that leaders of main political parties must form a new government forging national consensus and announce election date again, RSS reports. . At the programme organized by the Joint Youth and Students' Organization in the capital, the speakers said the announcement of November 22 election was unconstitutional. So, it must be corrected. General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Prakash Man Singh, accused the UCPN-Maoists of pushing the CA to its demise. He insisted that the announcement of election by Bhattarai-led government was unconstitutional. Similarly, UML leader KP Sharma Oli said the government announced the CA elections with mala fide intention. Maoists' aim is to capture state authority, he said, urging all parties to unite against this ill intention of the Maoists. RPP Chairman Pashupati Shumser Rana and Co-Chairman of Rastriya Janashakti Party Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani said the announcement of election was violation of the Interim Constitution. CPN-ML General Secretary CP Mainali said the present crisis could be tackled only with national consensus. Moreover, Chairman of Rastriya Jana Morcha, Chitra Bahadur KC said he felt it good not because constitution was not made but because the country was saved. Chairman of Nepal Bar Association Prem Bahadur Khadka said the Prime Minister plotted conspiracy to dissolve the CA which breached legal ground. Also speaking on the occasion, senior advocates Harihar Dahal, Bhimarjun Acharya and Tikaram Bhattarai said the political parties need to forge consensus and remove difficulties through the President.
