UPDATE PM BHATTARAI LEAVES FOR BRAZIL Kathmandu, 18 June: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai flew for Brazil at 3.55 in the afternoon Monday as his party UCPN (Maoist) standing committee meeting downplayed the government chief’s foreign visit against party suggestion. ‘The decision to go is a government decision and prerogative,” Spokesman Dinanath after the committee meeting for the second consecutive day. ‘Government left the visit was in the national interest,” Sharma added defending Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s decision to go and enforce two ordinances elating of money laundering. But anti-government protestors vandalized two government vehicles at TIA where an attempt was made to stop Bhattarai from going abroad for the first time after calling controversial constituent assembly elections 22 November. Nnnn 21 GROUPS RECOMMEND SPLIT Kathmandu, 18 June: Twenty-one groups of rebel UCPN (Maoist) at a National meet ended discussions and recommended a split in the pary leading the government, The groups were discussing a political report of First Vice-chairman Mohan Baidhaya who is leading the breakaway group. A formal split is now imminent with delegated even discussing a name for the new patty. Establishment Spokesman Dinanath Sharma said Baidhya overnight didn’t respond to two invitations for talks over the phone with Chairman Prachanda. ‘There’s no outlet for dialogue,” Sharma added. nnnn :
