FURTHER DETAILS OF SUSHIL KOIRALA CHARGE AGAINST MAOISTS UPDATE
Kathmandu, 2 July:: Various leaders of Nepali Congress (NC) have said the party would not accept the budget brought by the ad hoc government through ordinance, RSS reports.
Stating that the Maoist-led government has the sole responsibility behind the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly (CA), they stressed that Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai should resign from the post so as to pave the way for forging national consensus.
Speaking at a programme organized on the occasion of the 89th birth anniversary of the late Girija Prasad Koirala here on Monday, party President Sushil Koirala praised the late Koirala for his contribution in initiating the peace process and accelerating it through the means of consensus, cooperation and unity.
He accused the UCPN (Maoist) of promoting undemocratic practices, announcing fresh elections to the Constituent Assembly unilaterally.
The budget to be brought by the ad hoc government through ordinance would not be acceptable for the party, he said and urged the PM to quit the post and pave way for national consensus.
The nation can plunge into a serious mishap and it can see the misfortune like that of Afghanistan if political consensus is not forged, said NC President Koirala.
He claimed that the nation witnessed the constitutional and political crisis as the UCPN (Maoist) violated the past agreements.
Also speaking at the programme, party general secretary Prakashman Singh said the CA was dissolved just because of the Maoist- Madhesi Front's coalition government.
The CA elections announced by the government boycotting the legal progress would not be acceptable for the party, he said.
"PM Dr Bhattarai has no moral ground to stick to the post since the dissolution of the CA", he added.
Similarly, another party general secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula said the nation was plunged into constitutional crisis because of the prime minister's greed for power.
"Maoists' greed for the state power is like a rotten pumpkin and it is likely to fall off from the roof", he said.
Party central member Narhari Acharya stressed the need of changes within the party to bring changes in the country.
NC Kathmandu district President Bhimsen Das Pradhan chaired the programm
