GOVT. NOW PREPARING TO BRING SPECIAL BUDGET Kathmandu, 12 July: Cabinet is discussing a special budget and programme for inclusion in its Thursday at a regular session. Opposition said there was agreement between government and opposition to bring a budget for new fiscal year 2069/70 beginning Monday not exceeding one-third of allocation of money earmarked in the current budget. Opposition charged the caretaker government of going back on an agreement on the budget and briefed President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav Wednesday on he opposition view. NC. UML and Rashtriya Janashakti Party on behalf of the opposition asked the president not to approve a supplementary budget of a caretaker government. Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai personally confirmed opposition fears government was preparing to announce a ‘populist budget’ to get two-third votes in uncertain elections 22 November. Preparation to bring a special budget is confirmation Bhattarai won’t quit government as demanded by opposition. nnnn DRIVER OF SLAIN JUSTCE BAM ARRESTED Kathmandu, 12 July; Driver Astha Lama of slain supreme court Justice Rana Bahadur Bam has been arrested for investigation of the murder. Lama was re-arrested Wednesday from Rabi Bhawan area to prove the 31 May murder. Justice Ban was shot and killed while driving to office in his car. Nnnn DARA SINGH DEAD Kathmandu, 12 July: Retired Indian wrestler and actor Dara Singh died Thursday. He died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mumbai.
