SPLIT IN MJF REPUBLICAN Kathmandu, 1 July: MJF Republican led by Jayaprakash Prasad Gupta, jailed by by supreme court on corruption charges, split Sunday days after MJFL of Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachedhar parted company. Nandan Kumar Dutta replaced Communication Minister Raj Kishor Yadav as the acting chairman. The party central committee (CC) Sunday morning took the decision. Dutta informed the election commission and registered change of leadership in the party. The decision was taken by majority 12 of 22 CC members. MJF Republican spli from MJFM of Upendra Yadav. Nnnn CHINESE TEAM RETURNS HOME Kathmandu, 1 July: A Chinese delegation led by Chief of International Department for South Asian Affairs of the Communist Party of China, Ai Ping, has returned home today by completing a three-day visit to Nepal, RSS reports.. The delegation discussed with Chairman of the UCPN-Maoist, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, President of the Nepali Congress, Sushil Koirala, Chairman of the CPN-UML, Jhalanath Khanal, among others, on various issues including the latest political situation in the country, peace process, constitution writing and forging national consensus and familiarized themselves on their concepts regarding the issues. During the visit, urging the leaders to give an outlet to political transition to Nepali people, the Chinese leader Ai said that China wants to see the completion of the Nepal's peace and constitution-drafting processes by forging national consensus among the parties as soon as possible. This was the first visit to Nepal. nnnn POLICE CRACKDOWN IN ITAHARI TO FIGHT SOCIAL CRIMES Kathmandu, 1 July: Police arrested dozens of people for their alleged involvement in flesh trading, gambling and street drug transactions from different hotels and restaurants of Itahari area on Saturday, RSS reports from Itahari. Four different teams of police personnel had raided at a same time in different hotels and lodges. Police said that dozens of couples, gamblers and some drug addicts were arrested. Police Inspector of Area Police Office, Itahari, said 24 males and 17 females were held from hotels and restaurants for their alleged involvement in flesh trading and illegal activities. Police personnel have also seized some street drugs kept for sale from Tiptop Hotel and Restaurant, Itahari. Similarly, hotelier Subas BK of Urlabari-6 in Morang district, BK's aide and a hotel staffer were arrested on the charge of drug transactions. Police also held six gamblers from other hotels. However, the hoteliers have blamed the police administration for bringing crisis in their business by arresting even the 'genuine customers'. Nnnn BAD WEATHER FORCES CHOPPER TO MAKE EMERGENCY LNDING Kathmandu, 1 July: A helicopter bound for Kathmandu from Rukum carrying the injured people in a clash has made an emergency landing in Pyuthan due to adverse weather, RSS reports,. The 9N JP chopper of the Mountain Air made an emergency landing at 8:30 am today on a playground at Bijuwar-6. A total of five people including two crew members were aboard the chopper. According to the District Police Office Pyuthan, drizzling rain and thick fog had disrupted the flight. Three people- Kami Budha, Chandra Bahadur Budha and Jhalam Budha of Gumbatara-3 were hurt in a clash among the locals in Dolpa on Friday. 
It is learnt that the chopper halted at Rukum on Saturday, following bad weather. The condition of the injured is said to be critical. The helicopter is expected to make its way to the Capital after improvement in the weather condition. Nnnn KANCHANPUR MOTORCYCLE ACIDENT LEAVES 2 DEAD Kathmandu, 1 July:: Two persons died in a road accident at Tribhuvanbasti-8 in Kanchanpur district last night. The accident took place after a motorcycle with high-speed collided with a culvert, RSS reports from Kanchanpur.. The deceased are identified as Ram Bahadur Sunar of Kalika VDC-2 and Jay Kisan Chaudhary of Bhimdutta Municipality-18 in the district. Police Inspector Nrip Shah said that Sunar died on the spot while Chaudhary breathed his last while receiving treatment. nnnn
