ATTORNEYGENERAL PRADHAN SAYS LAXITY IN INVESTIGATION MAKES JUSTICE DELIVERY LESS EFFECTIVE

Talking to media persons at Beni, the district headquarters of Myagdi today, Attorney General Pradhan said that the investigation side of cases has become less effective as modern investigation and information technology cannot be adopted during the investigation process.
He stressed the need of adopting modern technology to make the investigation scientific and justice delivery more effective.
He was here in course of laying the foundation stone of a new building of the District Office of Government Attorney, today.
"Torture-based investigation is still in practice in Nepal," he said, adding that victims could get justice if investigation process based on technology and friendly to human rights was adopted.
Torture-based investigation could not bring out facts about the case, said the Attorney General.
Stating that maximum responsibility given to the Chief District Officer has caused a problem in work execution, he called for allocating power to the political parties and the organizations as well.
Also speaking on the occasion, District Judge Binod Raj Sharma and CDO Krishna Prasad Gyawali underlined the need of administrative improvement, development of physical infrastructure and expansion of information technology in the state apparatus.
Representative of Nepal Bar Association, Myagdi chapter Thahar Bahadur Bhandari and District Attorney Yognath Dhakal were among those speaking at the programme chaired by Joint Attorney Narayan Poudel.
Construction of the two and half storey building with 15 rooms is expected to be completed within the next 18 months. The building will have a modern and human rights friendly detention room also, it is learnt.
