BANKE DECLARED DICLOFENEC FREE Kathmandu, 5 Aug.: Banke has been declared the district free from diclofenac with a view to protecting vultures. Use of diclofenac on animals in course of treatment is the main cause of untimely death of vultures, RSS reports from Nepalgunj.. Vultures die with increase in uric acid level if they eat carcasses of those animals on which diclofenac is used, according to Chief of District Livestock Service Office Dr Pushpa Shrestha. Vulture is considered a cleaner of nature. The district was declared diclofenac-free zone at the initiative of Inrudek Nepal with the support from Nepal Birds Conservation Association and the Livestock Office. nnnn
