FOREIGN MINISTER LEAVES FOR IRAN TO ATTEND NAM SUMMIT, PM BHATTARAI GOES WEDNESDAY DEFYING WESTERN PRESSURES Kathmandu, 27 Aug.: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kazi Shrestha left for Iran to attend a two-day summit of non-aligned member (NAM) states this week. Shrestha said Nepal’s participation is important as a founding member of the movement. Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, ignoring western pressures not to attend the summit in Iran, is going flying there Wednesday. Nepal was asked by USA, come European states and Israel not to send a high-level delegation to the summit. Nnnn AGREEMENT ON ONE MILLION RUPEES BLOOD MONEY Kathmandu, 27 Aug.: An agreement was reached between families of Durga Bahadur Sunar of Parbat and Ganesh Bahadur Basnet to pay one million rules blood money in the presence of consular officials of the foreign ministry Sunday, Kantipur reports. Sunar is on death row in UAE for murdering Basnet Nnnn COMPLAINTS AGAINST 500 POLITICIANS AT CIAA Kathmandu, 27 Aug.: CIAA has confirmed complaints have been filed against 500 politicians at the commission for corruption and possessing wealth disproportionate to their income, Kantipur reports.
