NC SECRETARY MEET UNDERWAY
Kathmandu, 4 Aug.: Top leaders of the Nepali Congress have said the party would launch decisive protest immediately after the rainy season because the government was acting authoritatively and denying consensus, RSS reports from Pokhara.
At the three-day orientation to the district secretaries of the party begun here on Saturday, they said Nepali Congress needs to lead the national consensus government because the UCPN-Maoist has already lost people's confidence.
Inaugurating the orientation, party President Sushil Koirala said the country was losing confidence in the national and international level because of the dishonest behaviour of the Maoists, as it repeatedly signed agreements but never abided by these.
"Only Nepali Congress-led government on consensus could solve the current political crisis," he said, adding that the Nepali Congress would, however, continue protests and dialogues side by side.

He lambasted the Maoists' double role of making agreement and flouting it immediately. Leader Paudel urged the President to take initiative to solve the present political imbroglio.
General Secretary Prakash Man Singh said decisive struggle was essential to topple this government. He pointed out the need to internalise the decisions of the 12th convention of the party for unity and cooperation within the party.
Another General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula said the Nepali Congress was for the protection of all regions and culture. He warned that the Maoists could not launch any terror as they threatened.
Central member Sujata Koirala said the party was in need of taking stringent decisions to take the country of present impasse.
