Marking the occasion, the Nepal-China Society organized an interaction in the capital on Wednesday, where leaders of various political parties described the bilateral relations between the two countries as ´unique´.
They also emphasized on the need to take benefit as much as possible from the economic strides taken by neighbouring China.
Speaking at the programme, CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said the Nepal-China relations based on the principle of panchasheel remains free of any dispute, and added that the exchange of high-level visits and ideas have taken the mutual relations to a new height.
Vice-president of Nepali Congress Ram Chandra Poudel expressed the view that Nepal should follow the agriculture technology of China in order to get out of poverty and unemployment.
He also emphasized on the need for Nepal to ensure that China´s security concerns are well addressed.
UCPN (Maoist) leader and Chief of Foreign Department of the party, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, was of the view that there was no alternative to collaborating with China in order to protect the national freedom of Nepal and suggested opening up more transit points in the northern border.
Vice-president of CPN-Maoist CP Gajurel said the Government parrots one-China policy and against allowing anti-Tibet activities in the country but does not put it into practice.
Co-president of Rastriya Janashakti Party Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani pointed out the need to work seriously towards taking advantage of the development achieved by our northern neighbour.
On the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yang Houlan said China and Nepal are consistent development partners and have been working in close cooperation on issues of international concern.
At the function chaired by the Society Chair Prem Kumari Pant, former Nepali Ambassadors to China Bishnu Hari Nepal and Hiranya Lal Shrestha and the Society member Somnath Ghimire expressed the view of maintaining balanced relations with our neighbours
China and India.
