Kusan Pradhan, Yam Prasad Pandey and Rajendra Prasad Shrestha have been appointed members of managing committee. nnnn MORE DETAILS RULING MAOISTS ADMIT SOLICITING MONEY WHILE AWARTING CONTRACT FOR POKHARA AIRPORT Kathmandu, 28 Aug.: The UCPN (Maoist) has admitted to soliciting money from firms contracted to lay the groundwork for the proposed Regional International Airport in Pokhara, The Kathmandu Post reports. This was reveled by the Kaski District Committee of the Maoist party in a press conference on Monday. The party, however, refuted reports that it had taken Rs 5 million from the contractors. "We accepted Rs 200,000-400,000 in the form of donation to run the party," said Jhalakpani Tiwari, the coordinator of the UCPN (M) District Convention Organising Committee. He said the party was planning to disclose all the financial records to ensure transparency. The Kaski chapter of the UCPN (Maoist) has also issued a statement explaining that the party had been collecting donation from businesspersons of Pokhara to invest the sum for the party's benefit and not for personal use. Kanchanjungha Nirman Sewa, Shankarmali Nirman Sewa and PS Nirman Sewa had undertaken the projects like levelling the runway ground and fencing the proposed airport area. The Maoists claimed that the current row over the delayed construction of the airport has no relation with the party soliciting the donation. nnnn
