SHARE PRICES SLUMP Kathmandu, 13 Aug.: Share price slumped heavily on the first day of five-day weekly trading Sunday fallowing below 400 points. Nepse closed at 399.2 points losing 3.26 points or 0.81 percent. Altogether 302,167 shares were traded for Rs.84.959 million in 1395 transactions. nnnn PM BHATTARAI GREETED WITH BLACK FLAGS IN POKHARA Kathmandu, 13 Aug,: Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai was greeted by Flach flags in Pokhara Sunday.. He has gone there to address party workers of Tamuwan State Committee (TSC) and was welcomed by protesting students and youth of UML spearheading an anti-government protest slling for the government chief’s resignation. UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and Vice-chairman Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha and deputy prime minister are also in the resort town to attend th programme. Nnnn VICE-PRESIDENT JHA CALLS FOR MOBILIZING YOUTH Kathmandu, 13 Aug.: Vice President Parmanand Jha has pointed out the need of identifying skills, knowledge and talents of youth for utilizing them in the productive sector, RSS reports/. Addressing a programme organised to mark the 13th International Youth Day by the Ministry of Youth and Sports today, the Vice President stressed the need of developing socio-economic entrepreneurship in youth, guaranteeing employment opportunity to them at home. Poverty, illiteracy, practice of untouchability, gender and caste -based discrimination are the malpractices existing in the Nepali society and youths should be mobilized to end such practices, said the Vice President, underlining the need of cooperation from the private and non-government sector as well to mobilize youths as an agent of change in the country. Now the nation has ushered in the era of republic after political revolution and concerns of youths should be for leading the country towards economic progress, said the Vice President. Honesty, discipline and hardship is a must for achieving economic prosperity, he said, and urged youths to be more disciplined and laborious to contribute to the economic development of the country. August 12 is celebrated every year as the International Youth Day since 2000 AD as per the decision of the United Nations General Assembly in 1999. Nepal is observing the Day since 2004. It may be noted that many youths are compelled to set out for abroad seeking employment opportunities every year. According to statistics, presently, over two million Nepali youths are in Gulf countries and other countries in connection with foreign employment. Nnnn OPPOSITION STUDENTS CLOSE EDUCATIONAL DOWN INSTITUTIONS Kathmandu, 13 Aug.: Different sister and youth wings close to various 17 political parties have closed all the academic institutions under the Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) today [Sunday], demanding that irregularities reported in the CTEVT be stopped, RSS reports.. The Youth Association Nepal, Nepal Students Union ( NSU) and the All Nepal National Free Students Union ( ANNFSU- sixth), among others, have joined the protest. The CTEVT has been accused of raising arbitrary fees and dispatching question papers for examination outside the Valley before time. Similarly, removal of those college names which have resemblance to English names, maintaining educational quality and guarantee of scholarship are among those demands put forth by the sister wings. NSU President Ranjit Karna has warned of intensifying the protests if the demands are not met in time. Similarly, ANNFSU President Madhav Dhungel said that the closure of CTEVT colleges was a compulsion for ending the irregularities in CTEVT. nnnn
