12 POLICEMEN OF MAHAKALI ZONE SACKED Kathmandu, 5 Sept.: As many as 12 police personnel were sacked from their posts in four districts of Mahakali Zone for indulging in irregularities, RSS reports from Kanchanpur.. According to the Mahakali Zonal Police Office, Bhimduttanagar, the police administration sacked three police personnel from Kanchanpur, four from Dadeldhura and five from Baitadi district in the fiscal year 2011/12 for abusing their authority to commit irregular activities. Similarly, some 75 policemen in the zone were admonished for their irregularities, said Subhash Chandra Chaudhary, Senior Superintendent of Police at the Office. In the previous fiscal year 2010/11, only two policemen were sacked and five cautioned, he said. nnnn 60,000 BHUTANESE REFUGEES FROM EAST NEPAL RESETTLE IN USA Kathmandu, 5 Sept,: USA has resettled 60,000 Bhutanese of Nepali, Hindu identity among that 100,000 living in camps in Morang and Jhapa in east Nepal. A 28-year-old woman with a husband and young daughter let for U.S. Monday becomings the 60,000th Bhutanese refugee. and will start a new life in Columbus, Ohio, the US embassy said. US with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), began resettling Bhutanese refugees residing in eastern Nepal in 2007. Refugees have been resettled in Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom in the last five years. Nnnn FIRE IN TAMIL NADU FACTORY IN INDIA KILLS 40, INJURES 60 OTHERS Kathmandu, 5 Sept.: A massive blaze swept through a fireworks factory in southern India on Wednesday, killing at least 40 workers and injuring 60 others, police said, AP reports from New Delhi. The fire spread to 40 of the 60 rooms at the factory, one of the biggest in Sivakasi town in Tamil Nadu state, police officer P. Karupaiah said. Witnesses said flames were billowing out of the Om Siva Shakti fireworks factory. News reports said the fire was partly under control more than three hours after it started about noon. The Press Trust of India news agency said about 300 people were working in the factory. Television reports said rescue workers would not be able to account for all of them until the blaze is completely out. Large amounts of firecrackers and raw materials were stored in the factory with major Hindu festivals weeks away. The cause of the fire was not immediately known, Karupaiah said. Sivakasi is about 500 kilometers (310 miles) southwest of Chennai, the state capital. The region has many factories making fireworks, which are used in religious festivals and weddings across India. They also are exported to other Asian countries. Some illegal fireworks factories operate in homes. nnnn
