OPPOSITION DEMANDS INVESTIGATION OF MAOIST MISAPPROPRIATION OF FUNDS FOR FORMER FIGHTERS BY GOVT, BODY INSTEAD OF PARTY UPDATE Kathmandu, 3 Sept. Opposition NC and UML Monday pressed demand for investigation of corruption at seven cantonments for 3,100 plus former Maoist combatants by a special committee headed by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai. The committee med Monday. UCPN Maoist has already completed its investigation following widespread complaint within the party of misuse of funds contributed by government and donors totaling millions of rupees. NC Leader Dr.. Ram Sharan Mahat and UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel, members of the committee, said the issue had been raised Monday and formal investigation has started.
