UPDATE KAMAL THAPA BLAMES SURYA BAHADUR THAPA AND RJP FOR BREAKDOWN IN UNITY EFFORTS Kathmandu, 4 Sept.: One day after the breakdown of unity efforts between parties of backed by former panchas, RPP-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa Tuesday put the blame squarely on Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) for party for the breakdown. Thapa ruled out any possibility of a merger with RJP and blamed it for putting new pre-conditions for unity and charging Chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa also calling demands unnecessary. Surya Bhadur Thapa was charged as a renegade. Kamal Thapa didn’t rule out possibility of unity with RPP led by Pashupati Shumshere Rana. The fresh developments come after former minister and RJP General Secretary Keshar Bahadur Bista was expelled from general membership for hobnobbing with former King Gyanendra—a charge denied by Bista. Thapa also accused RJP Chairman Thapa for presenting fresh conditions for unity when the parties of former panchas had agreed to let a general assembly confirm unification. Kamal Thapa said the party sill supported constitutional monarchy and Hindu state. when there was speculation RPP-Nepal had abandoned support for the twin issues for unity to face elections. nnnn
