DEUBA CALLS FOR CA REINSTATEMENT Kathmandu, 8 Oct.: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that revival of the dissolved constituent assembly (CA) was necessary as there is no provision of reelections of the CA in the Interim Constitution of Nepal 2063 B.S, RSS reports from Dhading.. Speaking at a press meet organized by the Nepal Press Union, Dhading chapter here on Monday, leader Deuba said that revival of the CA was necessary for amendment to the constitution even to go for the fresh elections. Leader Deuba was of the opinion that the CA should be revived only for short time to amend the interim constitution. At a time when other NC leaders were voicing for fresh elections, leader Deuba said that he was in favor of the CA resurrection in order to pave a way for constitution's amendment. On the occasion, leader Deuba said that he has no dispute with party President and Vice-President and added that he only called the meeting of former lawmakers to listen to their opinions regarding the present political crisis. Deuba also said that no one should drag the President into dispute. RSS Nnnn MORE CALLS FOR CA REINSTATEMENT Kathmandu, 8 Oct.: Senior leaders of major political parties represented in the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA) have called for seeking a consensus with the reinstatement of the CA, RSS reports.. Taking part in an interaction programme organized by former CA women members here today, former CA Chairman Subash Nembang said although over 90 percent disputed issues in the constitution drafting were settled, the CA was dissolved on May 27 without giving the nation new constitution due to many reasons. He underlined the need of parliament to institutionalize achievements of people's movements and to draft the new constitution. There was no alternative for the political parties who had united to overthrow monarchy to moving ahead together making consensus as a 'point of destination'. Similarly, UCPN (Maoist) leader Amik Sherchan said the Supreme Court decision of not extending the CA deadline was meant for suppressing the constitutional rights of the people. "Now the CA is sick and it could be renovated". Nepali Congress leader Shobhakar Parajuli said there was no alternative to reinstatement of CA to open a way for the new election. CPN-Maoist leader Dev Gurung said the CA is not dissolved rather it has been passive after May 27 and it was the best alternative to revive it to clear hurdles for new constitution. CPN (UML) leader Bhim Acharya stressed the need of reinstating the CA to take the country out from constitutional and political vacuum. party leader Laxmanlal Karna, Prem Bahadur Singh of Samajbadi Prajatantrik Janata Dal, former CA members Ushakala Rai, Mohammadi Siddiqui, Kalpana Rana, Radha Devi Timilsina, Lalita Kiring, Janak Kumari Chalise and Durga Pariyar suggested the political leaders to move ahead in unity by reinstating the CA so as to ensure consensus. RSS nnnn NC CONCLUDES NC NOT SERIOUS Kathmandu, 8 Oct.: :The Nepali Congress has determined that the UCPN-Maoist is not honest for forming a national consensus government within mid-October. The meeting of the office-bearers and top leaders of the party held at Koirala residence at Maharajgunj today drew a conclusion that the UCPN-Maoist could not be trusted at present as it cheated one after other and did not implement previous agreements. Talking to media persons after the meeting, Vice-President of the NC, Ram Chandra Paudel, said serious discussion was held on the issue of giving an outlet to the country and added that the meeting also decided to take initiatives for the implementation of the agreement signed recently among political parties to give an outlet to political and constitutional crisis of the country. Paudel said the meeting also decided to make consultations with Chairman of the UCPN-Maoist for the implementation of previous agreement signed to form a national consensus government. that the UCPN-Maoist is playing a game to extend the tenure of the government, the NC decided to forward a stern agitation from mid-October if the UCPN-Maoist is not ready to form a national consensus government. Objecting to the Belgium tour by Dahal from October 11 by piling the problems of the country, the meeting also demanded that an outlet should be given to the political crisis of the country by forging consensus. Before this, parties including the NC, UCPN-Maoist and CPN-UML had signed agreement to form a national consensus government by forging consensus on the disputed issues of the constitution writing within mid-October. Nnnn NC ESTABLISHMENT ASKED TO MEND FENCES WITH DEUBA Kathmandu, 8 Oct.: Youth leaders of the Nepali Congress have urged the party line to take an initiative to settle a dispute between the party President and senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba. The stressed the need of following the ideologies of party founding President BP Koirala and former President Girija Prasad Koirala by all the party leaders and cadres to strengthen the party. Addressing a party mass meeting at Laukahi under the NC Sunsari constituency No.5, they suggested party top brass strengthen the party unity campaign from Laukahi which is constituency of the both leaders. Party treasurer Chitra Lekha Yadav said the NC was serious towards the issues of Madhes since these issues were first raised by the party. She accused the Madhesi Janadhiakar Forum of forgetting real voices of Madhesi after getting into the power. Similarly, youth leader and central member Gagan Thapa claimed the new constitution could not be drafted due to UCPN (Maoist). nnnn
