FRONT OF PRO-MONRCHY PARIES FORMED Kathmandu, 2 Oct.:Various pro-monarchy political parties have united citing to safeguard the nation and people, RSS reports.. They have formed a new alliance called 'Patriotic Democratic Front' with Manmohan Shamsher Rana as the coordinator. Issuing a press note today, the newly formed Front claimed that the big political parties which claimed themselves as 'followers' of democracy could not safeguard nationality, and underlined the need of forging national consensus along with kingship in the present situation. The front comprises the Rastriya Jana Ekata Party, Rastriya Ekata Party, Lok Kalyankari Janata Party, Deshbhakta Rastrabadi Party, Rastriya Shivsena Party, League Nepal Shanti Ekata Party and Nepal Rastrabadi Party, among others. The front of royalist political parties has accused the major political parties of betraying the nation and the people and undermining the religion and culture and hurting the people's sentiments. Nnnn DEUBA BLASTS UCPN MAOIST : Kathmandu, 2 Oct.: Senior leaders of political parties have said that all parties should find out solution to the problems through consensus as no solution could be found through violent movements, RSS reports. At a programme jointly organized by the Democratic and Development Centre and Taxila Academy on the occasion of the International Non-Violence Day here today, the leaders called for finding out solution through consensus, and not by involving in violence. Indicating to the UCPN-Maoist's attempts of involving in violent activities, senior leader of the Nepali Congress (NC), Sher Bahadur Deuba, said solution to all the problems would be found out through non-violence but not through violence. Deuba said movements of 2046 BS and 2062/063 BS were successful through non-violence and clarified that non-violence always wins. Similarly, senior leader of the CPN-UML, Madhav Kumar Nepal said there is no need of violent agitations for the development of the nation and stressed on developing awareness on non-violent movements. Blaming that the ruling party has been adopting violence without expressing commitment on republicanism, Nepal said a campaign should be started in national and international levels against any wrongdoings. I ndian Ambassador to Nepal, Jayant Prasad, said that contribution of Mahatma Gandhi was important to spreading non-violence movement across the world and added that the world always remembers Gandhi for social and cultural rights. Chairman of the Academy, Prof. Dr. Jayraj Acharya, stressed that non-violence movement could be moved ahead from the development of education. The International Non- Violence Day is being observed on October 2, birthday of the Mahatma Gandhi, as per the decision of the General Assembly of the United Nations held in 2007. Nnnn GOVT. ATTEMPTING TO CURB SOCIAL NETWORKS Kahmandu, 2 Oct.: Former Chairman of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Dharmendra Jha, has blamed that the government has involved in curbing on information, RSS reports.. Jha made this remark at a gathering of council members and former central Chairmen organized by the Bhaktapur chapter of the FNJ. Stating that the government has been making attempts to control various social networks including Facebook and Twitter against freedom of expression and press, he said prohibiting the use of Facebook at the Singha Durbar premises of late by the government is an example of this. Another former Chairman of the FNJ, Taranath Dahal blamed that the government has tried to put a ban on press as an attempt to control open and liberal society. Dahal said the government has been attempting to infringe upon the independent press through the advertisement in media or by investing on ownership.The government has been making the press publicity-oriented instead of making it independent and professional. On the occasion, District chapter Chairman Narayan Sundar Kilambu said the FNJ will always play a lead role for press freedom and freedom of expression. nnnn
