PRESIDENT HITS OUT AT PARTIES; CA REINSTATEMENT IMPOSSIBLE HE SAYS Kathmandu 15 Oct.: Talking to local media persons in Dhanusha on Monday, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has said that the reinstatement of the Constituent Assembly (CA) is not possible under any circumstances and said that the present constitution is as 'sacred' as the Geeta (a holy Hindu scripture) for him and he has much Reverence, for it, RSS reports from Janakpurdham. "The political parties have no alternative than going for fresh elections as per the spirit of the Interim Constitution and the Supreme Court's verdict", the President said. Formation of a national consensus government along with the participation of the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) is must to take the country on right track since the incumbent coalition government is not able to do so, said President. "The responsibility of guaranteeing the promulgation of a new constitution with consensus among political parties falls upon my shoulders and the political parties should follow the path from which the new constitution will come out", the President said. Responding to a query of journalists, the President said ensuring people's rights with the establishment of democracy and safeguarding of national integrity is under his jurisdiction. He stressed that the political parties should move ahead in unison for the CA's fresh election. Responding to a query about the full-fledged budget, the President said the parties should have consensus on bringing a complete budget. The CA was dissolved in the context that political parties had to move ahead with constitutional revisions and it was a great mistake in the history of Nepal, said the President and added that the parties had to come up with an alternative arrangement to look after the CA. "The people are the future of the nation and the new constitution should be given to them by institutionalizing the achievements of the people's movement of 2006. It is necessary to give the nation new constitution on time, and is not possible as the political parties are focused on state power only”, he added. The President further said that although he in his capacity as the head-of-the-state has already directed the political parties to give a way out to the nation from the present crisis, they have not been serious towards his call. Responding to a query about the remark by Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai that the President has no right to interfere in his actions, the President said that it was not necessary for him to pay attention to others' statements. In reply to journalists' question about the wretched condition of the roads in Janakpur, the President said construction of the roads is the responsibility of the government, and now his concentration is on the new constitution. The President also paid homage to the local Janaki and Krishna temples. Nnnn
