UPDATE NEPAL PLAYS MALAYSIA IN SEMI-FINAL OF ACC ELITE CUP Kathmandu, 9 Oct. Nepal qualified for the semi-finals of the ACC Elite Cup by beating Hong Kong by 125 runs in the last Group B match Tuesday. Nepal will play Malaysia in the semi-final Wednesday. Hong Kong was bowled for 100 runs in 37 overs Amrit Bhattarai and Basanta Regmi took three wickets each. nnnn UCPN MAOIST PUSHES TALKS WITH PARTIES Kathmandu, 9 Oct.: The UCPN (Maoist) has decided to continue talks and dialogues underway among the political parties with a view to finding a way out to the nation from the present political deadlock, RSS reports. The party has decided to intensify talks and discussions with other political parties, citing that political crisis in the country is deepening day by day. A meeting of the party office bearers and the organization department took place at the Prime Minister´s official residence at Baluwatar on Tuesday ended with this decision. The meeting urged other political parties to take part in the discussions with honesty. Talking to media persons following the meeting, party spokesperson Agni Sapkota said the meeting also focused on the issues of party´s general convention scheduled to be held in the month of Magh. The entire party line has been urged to gear up for making the general convention going to be held over after two decades successful, he said. Stating that consensus and a way out to the existing political crisis was not possible as the Nepali Congress and CPN ( UML) only concentrated on the state power rather becoming serious towards ending protracted political deadlock, Sapkota said a future strategy for consensus will be prepared after discussions with other political parties. The meeting also discussed the issues that the Prime Minister would not step down until and unless the political parties reach to a package deal for consensus, according to Sapkota. The next meeting scheduled for tomorrow is expected to finalise the working procedures of the general convention, he said. Nnnn FNCCI DEMANDS COMPLETE BUDGET Kathmandu, 9 Oct.: A delegation of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) called on senior leaders of political parties and urged them to forge a political consensus for a full budget, RSS reports.. The delegation led by FNCCI President Suraj Baidhya on Tuesday met Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala and CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidhya and urged them to help develop an atmosphere conducive to bringing a complete budget. At the meeting held at Koirala´s Maharajgunj residence and the Maoist Party Office in Buddhanagar respectively, the FNCCI office-bearers urged them to help remove all kinds of obstacles facing the economic sector of the country. In the meeting with the senior leaders, matters relating to the problem of trade union, donation and the recent ban in India-registered vehicles and Hindi films were discussed, said FNCCI President Baidhya. On the occasion, Maoist Chairman Baidhya said his party did not pursue a policy to discourage economic activities and the recent drive was to promote local industries and products rather than to stop India-registered vehicle and Hindi films from running in the country. The delegation is also scheduled to call on UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal today. Nnnn
