CPN MAOIST LEADER GURUNG ASKS PRESIDENT TO REJECT UNILATERAL GOVT. BUDGET Kathmandu, 13 Nov.: Secretary of the CPN-Maoist Dev Gurung has said that President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav should not accept the budget to be brought by the incumbent government as it has become already unconstitutional, RSS reports.. Talking to RSS, Secretary Gurung claimed that the government would be fully executive if the President accepts the budget brought by the government in the context that the President earlier had said that the government was a caretaker one. Claiming that the government was unconstitutional after May 27, he said President Dr. Yadav should scrap the election declared for November 22 by the government. Gurung said it will be a better alternative if solutions are found out through the Interim Constitution. He added the election declared by the government after dissolving the Constituent Assembly on May 27 was unconstitutional. The CPN-Maoist Secretary said solution of the current political stalemate should be found out by organizing a round-table conference. Nnnn NC HAS OPTIONS IF PM RESIGNS SAYS KOIRALA Kathmandu, 13 Nov.: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala said his party was ready to hold discussions on any alternatives including the leadership of the government only if Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai paves the way for national consensus by resigning from his post, RSS reports. Speaking the Bhailo programme that the Reporters' Club Nepal organised at his residence today, he said the environment of distrust among the political parties has peaked after Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai dissolved the Constituent Assembly (CA) and declared fresh elections. NC President Koirala said political consensus was not possible unless Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai resigned from his post. "UCPN-Maoist should be open to forge political consensus as there is no alternative to political consensus for a way out to the nation," he said, adding that there is no meaning of declaring candidate for prime minister as said by UCPN-Maoist." Koirala further said he was for full budget but it should be brought on consensus. He said that the budget brought by the government in an unilateral manner would not be acceptable to his party. NC President Koirala said, the UCPN-Maoist gives pressure to the opposition parties to accept the proposals brought one after another and made it clear that they would not accept any proposal in the present political context.
