SHARE PRICES STABLE WEDNESDAY Kathmandu, 28 Nov.: Stock prices were stable Wednesday on the fourth day of five-day weekly trading. Nepse closed at 492.83 points losing 0.33 points. Altogether 242,695 shares were traded for Rs. 91.816 million in 1352 transactions. Machhindra FC (MFC) defeated Nepal Police Club (NPC) by 2-0 Nnnn NEPAL COLLECTS AWARDS AT STAMP EXHIBITION IN UAE Kathmandu, 28 Nov.: Nepal has received different four medals in 28th Asian Postal Stamps Exhibition held at Sharjahan in the United Arab Emirates, RSS reports. Kaji Madhusudan Raj Rajbhandari bagged Silver Bronze medal for his book King Mahendra in Postal stamps while Shyam Prasad Nhuchhe Pradhan has been awarded the Silver medal for the philately collection of 1875-1950 during the five-day long exhibition that concluded recently. Similarly, Deepak Manandhar has been awarded with the silver for his postal stationery collection and Binaya Manandhar received large silver medal for errors in Nepali postal stamps, according to the Philatelic Society. Nnnn NORWEGIAN MILITARY TEAM IN TOWN Kathmandu, 28 Nov.: Visiting Colonel Jorn Olsen of the Norwegian Defense College paid a courtesy call on Chief of the Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher JB Rana at the Nepali Army headquarters in the capital on Wednesday, RSS reports. Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Nepal Bhushan Chand and Chief of Staff Netra Bahadur Thapa were also present on the occasion. Colonel Jorn Olsen is the commanding officer of the Norwegian National Defense University College. The visiting team led by Colonel Olsen has been sharing Norwegian experience in UN Mission with the Military command and staff college and with the Birendra Peace Keeping training centre. Nnnn PAKISTAN TESTS NUCLEAR CAPABLE MISSILE Kathmandu, 28 Nov.:: Pakistan successfully test-fired a nuclear-capable ballistic missile on Wednesday that can hit targets up to 1,300 km (807 miles) away, the military said, Reuters reports from Islamabad.. Pakistan's Hatf-V is a medium-range ballistic missile, capable of reaching targets in India. "The test consolidates and strengthens Pakistan's deterrence capability and national security," the military said in a release. Pakistan and India have been developing missiles of varying ranges since they conducted nuclear tests in May 1998. U.S. intelligence estimates last year put the number of nuclear weapons developed by Pakistan at 90 to 110. Analysts say its nuclear arsenal is the fastest growing in the world. Pakistan, like neighboring India, is not a signatory to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. It says its nuclear weapons capability is a deterrent against India's much larger conventional military. nnnn
