SUPREME COURT DIRECTS GOVT. TO HOLD LOCAL ELECTIONS
Kathmandu, 7 Nov.: Supreme Court(SC) Wednesday directed
government to hold local bodies' elections in an ‘appropriate time’.
Ruling parties foiled such lections during the riyal regime even with
murder of candidates.

10-YEAR JAIL SENTENCE FOR MURDER OF UNTOUCHABLE
Kathmandu, 7 Nov.: The District Court Kalikot has sentenced the murderers of Manbire Sunwar to ten years in prison on Wednesday, RSS reports from Kalilot.
Sunwar of Jubitha, Kalikot was killed due to the tradition of untouchability.
He had died at a hotel in district headquarters after he was injured in a fatal attack by Min Bahadur Shahi, Deep Bahadur Shahi and Jas Bahadur Shahi while he tried to light a cigarette at the hotel of Bal Kumari Shahi at a local town in December 2011.
Four people charged guilty were sent to jail for investigation whereas Bal Kumari Shahi was found innocent. Various bodies including national human rights commission had investigated the incident.
INSEC and local Peace Committee Kalikot made a report public stating that he had died because of personal enmity but not due to the issue of untouchablity.
The government has already declared Sunwar martyr and given Rs. one million to the family as relief amount.

NSU CONVENTION DATES FINALIZED
Kathmandu, . 7 Nov.: : A meeting of the Nepal Students Union (NSU) held for two days at the Nepali Congress Party Office, Sanepa, Lalitpur, today [Wednesday], decided to organize the NSU General Convention in the slated timeframe, RSS reports.
The NSU is set to organize its 11th General Convention on January 18-20, 2013 though it decided to change the date for the District, Area and Campus level conventions, said NSU spokesperson UP Lamichhane.
Similarly, he said the NSU has also decided to organize publicity assemblies at 10 major places in the Kathmandu valley to make the mass assembly scheduled to be organized on November 9 by its mother party, NC, successful
