APOCALYPSE A RUMOUR SAY NEPALI ASTROLOGERS Kathmandu, 13 Dec.:: The rumor of end of the world originated from the western countries is just a rumor, said Nepali astrologers, RSS reports.. This means that it cannot be said that nothing will happen. Some inauspicious symptoms are seen on the basis of the study of the planets and stars, said Arjun Prasad Banstola, an astrologer. Talking to RSS, he said although December 21 is said to be inauspicious, there are some inauspicious symptoms from December 14-17 and some religious works are advised. There is a possibility of volcano on December 15 as the day is on Pratipada day and is in the main star and all five planets including Sun, Mercury, Venus, Rahu and the moon fall on the same line for two days. These five planets have a awful relation with Mars and Saturn and Guru and Ketu will be together, Shani and Rahu will be in one place and Shani and Rahu also have awful relations. However, there are some symptoms of political turmoil in the world arena, they say. There is a possibility of earth getting darker on Saturday and Sunday beginning from Saturday December 15 mid night but there will be a minor impact in South Asia and Nepal and the days can be misty, said Banstola. Chairman of the Nepal Panchang Determination Committee Prof. Dr Madhav Bhattarai said only panic are created, but there is no scientific basis for it and as there will be minor impact in sun rays, one should observe care and remember god. Member Secretary of the Committee, Pundit Surya Prasad Dhungel said one cannot estimate the impact, but there will be no big disaster. nnnn CNN HERO AWARDED Kathmandu, 13 Dec.; The government has feted CNN Hero Pushpa Basnet amid a function here on Thursday, RSS reports. Basnet, who had received the title for her contribution in providing the children of the families of incarcerated parents, with housing, education and medical care, to around 140 children. Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, Badri Prasad Neupane, honored CNN Hero Pushpa Basnet by wrapping shawl around her and handing over a letter of appreciation during the programme organised by the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare. Speaking at the programme, Minister Neupane said Basnet, who was honored with the 'CNN Hero Award-2012' for her devotion and contribution to the helpless children and added that she had been the hero of the world. Minister Neupane said one and all in the country have been proud of her, adding that honor to her was the honor to the nation. During the programme, honored personality Basnet said she was happy to be honored from the 'CNN Hero Award-2012' and felt that she had more responsibilities to be carried out in the days ahead. She expressed her commitment to devote her life in providing services to such helpless children. Secretary at the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, Dineshhari Adhikari, Nepal Women's Commission Chairperson Seikh Chandtara, member of the Judicial Council, Upendra Keshari Neupane, appreciated Basnet's service and devotion to the helpless children and wished her a successful career. Nnnn FIVE FALL OFF SWING, INJURED Kathmandu, 13 Dec.:: Five persons were injured after falling from a rote ping (wooden swing) at Jhiljhile in Jhapa district on Wednesday night, RSS reports from Jhapa.. The injured are Saraswoti Lawati of Satasidham-5, Sapana Rai of Ward No. 3, Kiran Shrestha of Ward No. 1 , Sanju Rai of Ward No. 9 and Manika Rai of Ward No. 3 of the same VDC. Of the injured, condition of three was critical, according to the Area Police Office, Jhiljhile. The incident took place when a cradle of the swing, put up on the occasion of Balachaturdashi fair, fell due to overload. The injured are undergoing treatment at Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar. nnnn
