CABINET APPOINTMENTS Kathmandu, 13 Dec.: The government has constituted a three-member investigation commission for resolving the problems of teachers who were forced to leave their jobs due to various reasons during the conflict period, RSS reports. Jageshwar Subedi, former chief judge of the Appellate Court, Patan, is the chairman of the investigation commission. A meeting of the Council of Ministers today decided to constitute the investigation commission for resolving the problems of the teachers who were deprived from their service during the conflict period and for providing relief to them, said Minister for Information and Communications, Raj Kishor Yadav, who is also the government spokesman. Similarly, the government decided to accept the grant assistance of Rs. 5.11 billion from the British government for the third phase of the Rural Access Programme. The meeting has approved the Nepali Congress leader Arjun Narsingh K.C., former Speaker of Parliament, Daman Nath Dhungana and former government minister Chakra Banstola for receiving the honour which the Bangladesh government is conferring on them for providing notable contribution to the freedom struggle of that country. Likewise, the Council of Ministers has extended the term of the Landless Squatters Problems Resolution Commission until the end of the Nepali month of Asar 2070 BS. The meeting of the Council of Ministers gave approval for cutting down 429 trees of different species that fall within the Morang Kanepokhari Rangeli road alignment for the construction of the road. It also accepted the resignation tendered from his post by General Manager of Nepal Water Supply Corporation, Under-Secretary Bharatmani Poudel. The meeting appointed Dr. Laxmi Devkota the chairman of the Budhigandaki Hydroelectricity Project Development Committee, Sher Bahadur Shahi the chairman of the Nalsinghgadh Hydroelectricity Project Development Committee and Dr. Prabhu Saha the chairman of the Shukraraj Tropical and Communicable Diseases Hospital Development Committee.
