MAOIST CHIEF SAYS AGENDA FOR CHANGE REMAINS
Kathmandu, 4 Dec Chairman of the UCPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal has reiterated that his party would not compromise on the agenda of change, RSS reports.
At a greetings exchange programme organized by the Unified Newa National Liberation Front Nepa on the occasion of Nepal Sambat New Year 1113 in the capital on Tuesday, Chairman Dahal said, "Efforts would be made till the last moment to political outlet to the country. And, the UCPN-Maoist would not compromise on the issues of federalism, secularism, rights to ethnic communities and different genders."
Current debate is the struggle between progressive and regressive forces, he said, adding it would be ultimately settled by the people.
According to the Chairman, it would be the most democratic and inclusive if other parties joined the incumbent government.
He further said he had proposed the formation of Bhattarai-led government again including other parties.
Leader Dahal accused the Nepali Congress leaders of obstructing consensus thereby rejecting his proposal.
He wondered whether other parties failed to understand the importance of the 12-point understanding as there was not GP Koirala, the seminal figure of the time and a signatory.
The achievements as republic, secularism, federalism must be protected, Dahal stressed.
On the occasion, general secretary of the Federal Socialist Party Rajendra Shrestha pointed out the need of institutionalizing federalism and republic.
Also speaking on the occasion were leaders Hishila Yami and Dilip Maharjan.
