NC’S PAUDEL URGES PROTESTSTO TOPPLE GOVT. Kathmandu, 14 Dec.: Vice President of Nepali Congress (NC), Ram Chandra Paudel, has warned to unseat the incumbent government through street protests, RSS reports from Chitwan. .“Opposition parties are compelled to struggle against the incumbent government as the Bhattarai-led government has refused to pave the way for consensuses through dialogues and negotiations,” said Paudel while speaking at a press conference organised by Nepal Press Union, Chitwan Chapter in Narayangadh on Friday morning. Saying that President had made several attempts to support consensus formation among political parties, he ruled out the chances of consensus formation within the extended deadline of December 17. Paudel further suggested the head of the state to hold consultations with all political parties and legal experts to end the current political and constitutional deadlock. Over a dozen opposition parties, including NC and CPN-UML, on November 10 had unveiled a month-long stir against the government. Following the President call for national unity government, opposition parties had put off the announced protest programme for Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December) on December 7. Nnnn ELEPHANT RAMPAGE IN SAPTARI Kathmandu, 14 Dec.: Wild elephants from Koshitappu Wildlife Reserve destroyed 15 houses built in Koshi river-inundated area in Saptari district, RSS reports from Saptari. The wild tuskers which came in a group pulled down the houses of Shankar Rai, Khadga Dewan, Krishna Nembang, Chandra Shrestha, Kumar Nepal, Man Kumari Lawati, Nanda Chamling, and Mannu Rai, among others, in the inundated area. According to local inhabitants, the wild elephants also damaged Nembang's paddy farm. nnnn
