12 OPPOSITION PARTIES BEGIN MEET Kathmandu, 12 Jan. Twelve opposition began meeting Saturday night as no outlet has been found to end a political deadlock. The president has given the Big Three and five Madeshbadi parties in government ntil Monday to find an outlet. Nnnn EFFIGIES OF PM, ATTORNEY GENERAL BURNT Kathmandu, 12 Jan.: Protests were held and effigies of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and Attorney General Mukti Pradhan in Dailekh Saturday protesting intervention in the murder of journalist Dependra Thapa eight years ago. Locals in the district protested the written intervention of the attorney general stopping recoding of statements of four accused. Local residents demanded sacking of Pradhan. nnnn 80 PERCENT VOTES CAST IN Kathmandu, 12 Jan.: Eighty percent votes were cast in elections for office Bearers of Nepal Bar Association (NBA) said Saturday. RCT defeated MMC 2-1 MMC has dropped to fourth on the league chart. nnnn ELEPHANT KILLS A 70-YEAR-OLD IN CHITWAN Kathmandu, 12 Jan.: Seventy-year-old Sigha BK was killed Saturday outside the Chitwan. He died on the spot. Four others fled and saved themselves. Two houses were destroyed Friday. It was not if the elephant was Dhrube the killer. nnnn
