DAILEKH POLICE SUSPENDED FOR FAILURE TO SECURITY DURING PM VISIT
Kathmandu, 24 Jan.: Nepal Police suspended its three police officers including DSP Sharada Prasad Chaudhary, Police Inspector duo Indra Subedi and Kiran Neupane of Dailekh Police Office on Thursday who, according to the police, failed to maintain security during the Prime Minister’s visit in the district on Wednesday, The Himalayan Times reports.
Talking to THT Online, Nepal Police spokesperson DIG Keshav Adhikari told that the police took such suspension move to ease further investigations into the security lacking.
After their suspension, all three officers have been sent to Surkhet.
Top police officers were also relieved of their responsibilities till the probe after questions were raised over the tense security arrangement in Dailekh which witnessed numerous clashes, vandalism and scuffles even during the visit of the executive head of the state.
Clashes and scuffles had been erupted between the cadres of opposition parties and UCPN-Maoist when both forces staged show-down of their own.
Police on air and lobbed numerous tear gas shells when the cadres of six opposition parties, including Nepali Congress and CPN-UML tried to debar the Prime Minister and his cabinet members from entering the district.
The government has called back Dailekh’s Chief District Officer (CDO) Umesh Dhakal on Thursday soon after the suspension of top police officers of the district.
As per the preliminary reports, Dhakal was called back from the district over his failure to arrange security during the Prime Minister’s visit in the district on Wednesday.
Earlier, three top police officers , one DSP and two inspectors were suspended for the same reason.
