DISPLACEMENT OF JOURNALISTS SERIOUS SAYS HOME MINISTER Lathmandu, 25 Jan.:: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, said that he has taken the incident and news of displacement of Dailekh-based journalists seriously, RSS reports.. Home Minister Gachchhadar said that an uneasy situation was created after the investigation of murder of Dailekh-based journalist Dekendra Raj Thapa. He made this remark at a meeting with a team of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) that had reached to the Home Minister to request for creating an environment for work in the district for Dailekh-based 22 journalists displaced from the district on Friday. Urging the FNJ to create an environment for the displaced journalists to return them to the district, Home Minister Gachchhadar expressed the commitment that he will specially direct the underlying bodies in this regard. He said "I request journalists and people not to create an uneasy environment by raising artificial issues as role of journalists is more than that of the government to ease the situation." The Deputy Prime Minister wondered the journalists themselves and the FNJ not providing information about their displacement to the security bodies. Stating that no dreadful situation was seen in the district as disseminated in the media, he expressed his determination for ensuring law and order and environment to work for the Dailekh-based journalists. On the occasion, FNJ President Shiva Gaunle urged for special direction for ending the environment of fear and terror as well as for ensuring security. (Note: Journalists protested in Surkhet. Journalists made representation to the communication minister Friday. Many of displaced journalists have gone into hiding at an undisclosed place.). Nnnn KOIRALA ADVICE TO PRACHANDA, PM Kathmandu, 25 Jan.: Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has said that those against democracy will see their downfall, RSS reports fro,m Syangjha. Addressing a cadres meeting organised by the Nepali Congress, Syangja, in Waling today, Koirala blamed the UCPN-Maoist for involving in a conspiracy to spoil the peace and democratic process. Indicating towards the UCPN-Maoist, Koirala said that those against democracy will be finished by themselves. He said situation of the UCPN-Maoist will be the same like that of Rana regime, Panchayat and King Gyanendra. Urging the UCPN-Maoist not to forget the role played by the late Girijababu for bringing them here from the jungles, the NC president reminded UCPN- Maoist Chairman Prachanda and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai not to forget their ground. He also urged the UCPN-Maoist not to undermine the agitation launched by them. On the occasion, Nepali Congress Central Member Gopalman Shrestha, Dhanraj Gurung, Syangja NC President Kamal Pangeni, among others, urged the UCPN-Maoist to shun totalitarianism. nnnn
