Kathmandu, 2 Jan. Rights groups and others continued their sit-in Wednesday at the official residence of the prime minister protesting government failure to
fight crimes against women and provide security to women.
Sit-ins continued despite government’s delayed reaction against crimes, including burning of two girls in terai by suspected relatives.

VAN KNOCKS DOWN INDIAN TRADER

According to the Area Police Office, Michaiya, the deceased has been identified as Mithilesh Kumar Dev, 26, of
Phulkaha village, India.
He has been running a shop at Michaiya.
He died on the spot when hit by the speeding van (Na 1 Ja 2539) while he was returning rented room from shop, police confirmed.
Police arrested the driver and impounded the van for investigation and action, said Police Inspector at Michaiya Post, Naresh Subedi.

VANDALS ATTACK RAMPUR CAMPUS
Kathamandu, 2 Jan.: Chitwan police has confirmed that the Rampur Agriculture Campus based in Chitwan was vandalise d Tuesday night, RSS reports from Chitwan.
The campus building was vandalise d and some students left injured when dispute emerged among the students regarding the celebration of English New Year, said police.
Campus chief Shyam Sundar Panta informed the police that the campus building was vandalise d but who were involved in the incident has yet to be found out.
The incident caused damages to the office chamber and quarter of campus chief and campus administrative building, he further said.
Police said that search for vandals is underway.
Meanwhile, UCPN-Maoist, Chitwan has expressed its serious attention towards the incident of vandalism in Rampur Campus and demanded prompt action against the guilty.
Issuing a press release, the party said that the CPN-Maoist has a hand behind the incident and UCPN-Maoist-close student leaders including Chairperson of ANNISU-Revolutionary Campus Unit Surendra Subedi, district member Manoj Dhakal, Birat Bhandari, among others, were injured in the incident.
However, CPN-Maoist said that they came up with retaliatory action when party-associated student leaders were attacked in the incident.
The CPN-Maoist has accused the UCPN-Maoist of bringing inebriated persons from outside to launch attack and more than three students of the party were injured. RSS
