UPDATE NEPAL EXPRESSES STRONG OBJECTION OF COL LAMA’S RELEASE Kathmandu, 4 Jan. Deputy Prime Minister Foreign Minister Narayan Kazi Shrestha said Friday Nepal raised strong objection through formal written communication to the British government objecting to the arrest of Col. Kumar Lama in London Thursday for perceived rights violations during a Maoist 10-year insurgency. Shrestha said this at a news conference. “Strong objections have been raised,” Shrestha said and the move will only derail Nepal’s Nepal’s peace in its final stage. Nepal has called for the immediate ‘correction and release’ of Col Lama :”A peacekeeper working for the UN in Sudan has been arrested in London infringing on the responsibilities of Nepal,: the foreign minister said, “We are committed to committed rights and action against violators.
