EUROPEAN ENVOYS ASK CPN MAOIST TO JOIN ELECTIONS Kathmandu, 22 Feb.: Kathmandu-based ambassadors of the EU Missions and several other European states Friday asked CPN-Maoist to join elections. The party has rejected taking party in the vote possibly being held in June. The diplomat, including ambassadors especially of UK, France and Denmark, expressed concerns over the peace process, ongoing political stalemate, economic crisis and its consequences, Spokesperson Phampa Bhusal said in a statement.. The envoys held discussions with Vice-chairman CP Gajurel and General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa. The splinter group of ruling UCPN Maoist reiterated four political forces and foreign forces were responsible for current crisis. CPN Maoist called for a roundtable conference to discuss the crisis, Spokesperson Bhusal said. nnnn. UPDATE FORMATION OF ELECTION GOVT. DISCUSSED Kathmandu, 22 Feb.: Top leaders of major parties Friday continued discussions on appointment and legality of an election government headed by Chief Justice Khil Rak Regmi. Friday’s meeting was held a the residence of the prime minister even though top UML leaderships sis away in Butwal. nnnn INDIAN ARRESTED AT TIA WITH BROWN SUGAR, BULLETS Kathmandu, 22 Feb.: Sanjeev Kumar ,40, an Indian national, was arrested Thursday at TIA with brown sugar and bullets. Singh was arrested before boarding a flight for New Delhi with 10 grams of brown sugar. Five rounds of pistol bullets were recovered from him. nnnn
