PM ASKS PARTIES TO BE ’RESPONSIBLE’ Kathmandu, 18 Feb.: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai on Monday called on all the political parties and the citizen to play their role with special responsibilities for fulfilling the national commitment of drafting a new constitution ending the current transition at the earliest, RSS reports.. Addressing a programme marking the National Democracy Day here today, Prime Minister Bhattarai also urged the political parties and the people to internalise the relevance of collaboration and taking the country forward in the direction of forward-looking change. "Institutionalising the federal democratic republic and building a prosperous Nepal is our present responsibility," the Prime Minister Bhattarai said. Prime Minister Bhattarai reiterated that the need of the day was for all of us to gear up towards nation building as per the aspirations of the people by ending all kinds of mistrust among us and internalizing the spirit of national unity and consensus and collaboration o as to propel the country towards the goal of economic prosperity. "Attention should be given to expediting the economic revolution, especially production of goods and their reproduction and to providing food, shelter and clothes to the general public for the sustainable institutionalization of the achievements of the revolutions and the people's movements so far," Prime Minister Bhattarai said and expressed the belief that the task of economic transformation could be moved forward if poverty and unemployment problems could be addressed. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar, spoke of the need of consensus, collaboration and a sense of unity for institutionalising the federal democratic republic. He stressed that development work and constitution drafting could be moved ahead as per the people' aspiration through consensus and collaboration alone. Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Nabin Ghimire said that it is only in a democracy that the road to the rule of law, the role and the rights of the citizens and nation building is ensured. The feelings of agreement and collaboration are required for this, Ghimire added. Present in the programme organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs were ministers, high government officials and people from different walks of life. nnnn
