GOVT. CHIEF REEGMI REITERATES HE HAS NO ROLE IN JUDICIARY Kathmandu, 17 March:: Chairman of Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi has said the election was the top agenda of the hour and the state mechanism was fully focused on taking the election process ahead, RSS writes. Talking to media briefly at his office, Singha Durbar on Sunday, Chairman Regmi said the entire bureaucracy has now focused on election and its preparations. "We have the target of making appointment to the vacant posts at the Election Commission as quickly as possible and making preparations for the upcoming election on a full swing", he said, adding all measures would be taken to hold the fresh election as soon as possible. Mr Regmi said he has expected full support and cooperation from the four political parties to complete his assigned task and expressed his gratitude to the political parties for giving him the responsibility of conducting the election. Responding to a query, he said that he has no involvement in the judicial activities. "Now I am separated from judiciary and I have no role there", he said and urged one and all not to doubt over independence of judiciary. He said appointment of the Acting Chief Justice and others were possible through an ordinance related to removal of difficulties and urged all the political parties to focus on new election, putting other issues aside. The Chairman of the Council of Ministers urged one and all to concentrate on completing the campaign for drafting a new constitution through the CA and taking the country towards prosperity with constitutional and political stability. Nnnn NBA CHIEF DEMANDS REGMI RESIGNATION FOR POLLS Kathmandu, 17 March: Chairman of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA), Hari Krishna Karki, has said that election would not be held in the country if Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, does not resign from the post of Chief Justice, RSS reports.. At an interaction organized by the Rafat Sanchar Club in Bhaktapur, Karki said that NBA would continue the agitation, launched by it, until Regmi resigns from the CJ post. He clarified that the agitation launched by NBA is to keep the judiciary free, not to foil the election and demanded that CJ should resign from the post immediately as it is the only alternative. Karki said that election would not be held unless Regmi resigns from the post of CJ as no one person should occupy two posts. He stressed on the need of addressing demands of NBA and 22 political parties as election could not be held at a time when NBA and more than 22 political parties have launched agitation against the CJ-led government. nnnn
