REPORTS OF ELECTION OBSTRUCTION IN THE EAST Kathmandu, 25 March: The registration of biometric voters´ name list ongoing at two village development committees in Jhapa has been halted owing to the obstruction from the CPN-Maoist cadres and local ethnic organization. RSS reports from Kakadvitta. The CPN-Maoist cadres and the Limbuwan organizations obstructed the task of collecting biometric voters´ list at Jyamirgadhi and Dharampur VDCs in protest against the announcement of fresh election under the leadership of Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi. Over two dozen Maoist cadres Jyamirgadhi had obstructed the task. A clash ensued between the cadres and police personnel after the police resorted to baton charge to disperse the mob. Five people including two policemen were injured in the clash. Others injured are Naresh Sanjel, Tejendra Mainali and Bhawani Limbu. The irate Limbuwan cadres vandalized the office of Dharampur VDC, Police Inspector Durga Adhikari said. Over 200 Limbuwan cadres reached the VDC office and vandalized it. The mob was dispersed following the arrival of the Armed Police Force team from Lakhanpur. Chief of the District Election Office, Jhapa, Gopal Acharya said the voters´ list registration task has been completely halted owing to the obstruction by the Limbuwan cadres. However, important documents, computer sets and cameras used for the task are safe, he said. Nnnn
