PRACHANDA RETURNS SATURDAY Kathmandu, 19 April: Maoist Chairman Prachanda returns home Saturday following a week-long China visit the highlight of which was a Thursday meeting with new Chinese President Xi Jinpong who expressed concern with announced constituent elections that hasn’t been held. Prachanda will hold talks with other Chinese leaders in Beijing Friday before leaving the Chinese capital. The Maoist chairman is going to New Delhi for talks with Indian leaders immediately after returning from China. Nnnn CA ELECTION 14 NOV. SAYS MAOIST LEADER Kathmandu, 19 April: Central member of the UCPN-Maoist, Janardan Sharma, has said that preparations are underway to hold the second election of the Constituent Assembly (CA) on November 13 or 14, RSS reports from Rykum.. Sharma said internal discussion is going on to hold the CA election on November 13 or 14 and added consensus would be forged in either of them. Talking to locals at Nuwakotdanda of Rukum this morning, he said there was no alternative to the second CA election for resolving the existing political crisis. Stating that political crisis has been deepened in the country, as the constitution was not promulgated, he said it should be drafted to resolve crises and expedite development works. The UCPN-Maoist leader Sharma interacted with the local people when he arrived in the district to inaugurate a drinking water project brought into operation through solar energy system at Surkimare of Kholagaun VDC Ward No. 6. Meanwhile, local people have submitted a memorandum demanding construction of roads, various school buildings, and drinking water projects, among others. Nnnn TEENAGER CROWNS Kathmandu, 19 April:: Seventeen years old Bibek Thapa of Bangaon, Bhimdattanagar Municipality, died after drowning in an irrigation canalm RSS reports from Kanchanpur.. Thapa drowned while swimming in the canal. He and his friends had plunged into the Mahakali River irrigation canal for swimming on the way home after attending tuition classes Locals and police found Thapa´s body in the canal after a two-hour search after his friends reported that he had drowned. The body has been sent to the Mahakali Zonal Hospital for post-mortem, police said. nnnn
