AVINASH KARN BEST BOWLER Kathmandu, 12 May: Avinash Karn was adjudged best bowler in the ACC U-19 Elite Cup that concluded in Kuala Lumpur Saturday. Karn bagged 24 wickets. DETAILS OF ROLPA JAILBREAK Kathmandu, 12 May: Some eight jailbirds have escaped from the Rolpa prison by digging out a tunnel Saturday night, RSS reports from Tulsipur.. The inmates ran away through the tunnel at around 12.30 AM, said Rapti Zonal Police Chief Uttam Bahadur Singh. Among the escapees are Arjun Sen, Raj Bahadur Oli, Dhruba Dangi, Champhe BK, Deepak Pun, Basanta Rokam Krishna Oli and Raju Thapa. Most of them are convicted in crimes such as rape, dacoit and rhino horn smuggling, Singh said. Though the police came to know about the jailbreak at around 12.30 last night, security personnel could not open fire to stop the fleeing inmates as they were taking a route through the school residential area, said acting Police Chief in Rolpa, Saroj Poudel. A squad of 19 police personnel were deputed for security at the prison. A massive number of security personnel has been mobilized at checkpoints across the district since last night and the search for the culprits has been intensified, Rapti Police Chief Sing. nnnn DETAILS OF MADESH BANDH Kathmandu, 12 May: There has been some impact of Banda called by the Sadbhawana Party (SP) on Sunday putting forth various demands, RSS reports from Itahari. No public service vehicles plied due to the Banda, but no remarkable impact has been seen of the strike in Dharan of Sunsari. The Area Police Office Itahari arrested six leaders and cadres of the party including Sunsari District Member Parameswor Mandal who were in Itahari to close the markets and stop vehicles early in the morning along with party flags. Those arrested are Madan Mandal, Raman Khan, Bhupen Kumar Thakur, Naresh Mahato and Pramod Chaudhary, police said. They are detained at the Area Police Office. Schools and other educational institutions are not affected. No vehicles plied from Itahari to east, west and south. Meanwhile, in Chitwan, five leaders and cadres of the party were arrested from Ratnanagar of Chitwan this morning while trying to stop vehicles. The arrested cadres of the Sadvawana Party led by Rajendra Mahato were Central Member Arjun Upreti, Kushal Subedi, Indra Subedi, Sandesh Tamang and Jiwan Chaudhary. They are detained at Area Police Office, Ratnanagar. The party has demanded immediate declaration of the CA election date and removing load shedding. The police opened the traffic disrupted in the morning by using force. (Note: A school bus was vandalized in Kailali.) nnnn
