CHAIRMAN REGMI CONTINUES CONSULTATIONS WITH PARTYLEADERS UPDATE Kathmandu, 15 May; After Wednesday morning consultations on second constituent assembly elections with top UCPN Maoist leaders, Chairman of the Interim Election Conncil Khil Raj Regmi held talks with Ashok Rai, chief of the Sanghaiya Samajbadi Party. Rai launched the party after defecting from UML following differences on a ethnic federal state based on identity. Declaration of official date for assembly elections and Rai’s party views were discussed. Regmi will holds consultations Thursday with leaders of Madesh morcha. Regm said official dates for a vote will be announced only after full preparations. The government chief will recommend to the president electoral laws based on consultations with party leaders.. UCPN Maoist told Regmi there should be no one percent threshold to register parties and candidates even with criminal records should be allowed to participate in elections. Nnnn UML CHAIRMAN VIVISING CHINA Kathmandu, 15 May: UML Chjairman Jhalanath Khanal is visiting China at an unspecified date.. Chinese Ambassador Wu Chuntai extended an invitation at a meting with Khanal Wednesday. The UML chief will be the second Nepali leader visiting China after Chairman Prachanda.
