INDIAN ARMY INTELLIGENCE CHIEF CALLS ON CHAIRMAN REGMI Kathmandu, 10 May : Director General of the Indian Military Intelligence Department, Lieutenant General RN Singh, who is on an official visit to Nepal, called on Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, today [Friday, RSS reports., . On the occasion, they held talks on matters of bilateral relations existing for long time in the past and on mutual interests between Nepal Army and Indian Army. On the occasion, General Singh put forth his views that all the training programmes received by Nepal Army will be extended to give continuity to the relations. Present on the occasion was Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Jayant Prasad. nnnn UPENDRA YADAV SAYS KARKI APPOINTMENT A CONSPIRACY Kathmandu, 10, May : Chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal Upendra Yadav, has blamed that syndicate of the four political parties has hatched conspiracies to end the democracy, RSS reports from Bhaktapur.. At an interaction organised by the Rafat Sanchar Club, Bhaktapur, here today, the syndicate of four powers including three political parties and Madhesi Morcha is ending democracy and establishing bureaucracy. Stating that the syndicate has imprisoned the country, he said bureaucracy has run the country from government to villages. Talking about the appointment of Lokman Singh Karki to the post of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Yadav said the four political powers have invited crisis in the country by making Karki, who was declared as unqualified by CIAA, to the chief of CIAA. Stating that there was no meaning of holding election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) without preparation of minimum basis of election, he said his party would not participate in the election in the status quo. Chairman Yadav said that election of local bodies should be held simultaneously with the CA election. Nnnn EUROPEAN TEAM LEADER CALLS FOR ELECTION DATE Kaaaaaaathmandu, 10 May : Jean Lambert, Chairperson of the European Parliament (EP) Delegation for Relations with the Countries of South Asia has encouraged Nepal to work towards settling the outstanding issues and announcing an election date to hold the elections within 2013, RSS reports.. Before departing to Brussels after completing her four-day visit she issued a press statement and urged one and all to work in a creative way to hold the election within November. Following her meetings with state authorities, the Election Commission (EC), National Human Rights Commission, the leaders of the political parties, members of the civil society as well as the international community, Lambert said, "Holding the elections before the end of 2013 will send a strong signal to the people of Nepal and to the international community that its leaders are committed to meeting the rights and aspirations of Nepali people for a stable, prosperous and democratic Nepal." She further added that credible, transparent and inclusive elections are essential to stabilizing the political situation, restoring crucial democratic institutions, and completing the interrelated processes of finalizing a constitution on the basis of the past achievements and securing a lasting peace. Lambert welcomed the efforts undertaken by the Interim Election Council and the High-Level Political Committee to engage with those parties who currently have objections to the process to adopt a constructive attitude to ensure the widest possible political commitment for elections with a view to fully representing the views of the people.
