Nnnn US FIRST LADY WORE A PRABAL GURUNG FLORAL DRESS TO GREET PRINCE HARRY Kathmandu, 10 May”N: US First Lady Michelle Obama chose a floral Prabal Gurung dress to meet with UK’s Prince Harry on Thursday at a reception in honour of military mothers and their children in Washington, agencies report from Washington D.C. Designer Prabal Gurung, a Nepali citizen and a top fashion designer had launched his own line ‘Prabal Gurung’ in 2009 after five years as Design Director in New York-based fashion house Bill Blass. The First Lady hosted the British royal at the White House this afternoon on the first day of his week-long U.S. tour, the Daily Mail reported. And it was not the first time we have seen that particular frock. The resort 2013 design has been worn for a high-profile public appearance once before, in October 2012 for a TV appearance on Kelly & Michael. Of course, with dresses costing upwards of $1,500, it makes sense that Mrs Obama would want to wear the New York-based designer's creations more than once. Indeed, she is a huge fan of the label - something she shares in common with Harry's sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge, who wore a Prabal number on her visit to Singapore in September. Mrs Obama wore Prabal Gurung as recently as Easter Sunday, choosing a dress that was a similar silhouette to today's with a matching silk gazar coat. And she wore his evening gowns to the 2010 Correspondents' Dinner and the 2011 Governor's Dinner. In turn, the designer cannot praise Mrs Obama enough. In January 2010, before he had even had the opportunity to dress the First Lady, he described her as his dream client. He told Canada's The Globe and Mail: 'She embodies the woman that I design for: successful, smart, powerful, gracious enough to be her husband's wife but strong enough to put him in his place. That to me is an inspiring modern woman.' The President himself was out of town during today's reception, but Mrs Obama seemed delighted to welcome British royalty to the White House. Harry's attendance had been kept a secret from the 170 guests in advance and made his way to the presidential home in an extensive convoy as the youngsters enjoyed afternoon tea. WOMAN RESCUED IN BANGLADESH AFTER 17 DAYS Kathmandu, 10 May:: Rescue workers in Bangladesh freed a woman buried for 17 days inside the wreckage of a garment factory building that collapsed, killing more than 1,000 people, AP reports from Dhaka.. The rescuers discovered the woman Friday afternoon and ordered the cranes and bulldozers to immediately stop work. They used handsaws to cut her out of the rubble, and the crowd gathered at the scene erupted in cheers when she was freed. She was rushed to a military hospital in an ambulance. Soldiers at the site said her name was Reshma and described her as being in remarkably good shape despite her ordeal. Abdur Razzak, a warrant officer with the military's engineering department who spotted her in the wreckage, said she was OK and could even walk. Workers at the site began tearing through the nearby wreckage looking for other survivors. nnnn
