NATIONAL MEET OF CPN ML BEGINS Kathmandu, 12 May: The Sixth National Conference of the CPN-ML has begun in the capital today [Sunday], RSS reports.. Some 4,50 representatives are participating in the conference that is likely to conclude on Tuesday by selecting the party's new leadership. Addressing the inaugural secession, CPN-ML General Secretary CP Mainali proposed six federal provinces including Sagarmatha, Janak, Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali and Seti-Mahakali in the new constitution. UCPN-Maoist spokesperson Agni Sapkota said that Constituent Assembly (CA) was the only option to end the present political transition. He said those attempting to fish in the murky waters were active due to delay in polls date announcement. Likewise, Nepali Congress General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula said the upcoming CA polls should be conducted by third week of November, as conducting polls in the Himalayan belt would be difficult if the date was delayed. Sitaula was of the view that erstwhile CA failed to draft the constitution due to communist parties' lobby for ethnic issues. Similarly, CPN-UML leader Rajendra Pandey urged the ML to join hands with the UML to safeguard nationality and ensure a progressive constitution. Chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha Chitra Bahadur KC alleged the major four political powers of working in the tune of foreign power centers. Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai also expressed best wishes on behalf of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Wu said China wants to see a politically stable and economically developed Nepal. Leaders of other political parties also expressed their best wishes for the completion of the Conference. nnnn
