UPDATE CHAIRMAN REGMI FELICIATES NATIONAL CRICKET TEAM Kathmandu, 8 May:: Chairman of the Interim Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi on Wednesday felicitated Nepali national cricket team players and Cricket Association of Nepal office-bearers on the recent success of the Nepali cricket team at the ICC World Cricket League Division-3 held in Bermuda, RSS reports. . With this landmark success, Nepali side has also ascended to the Division-2 group of cricket playing nations. At the felicitation programme organized by the government at the Prime Minister's Office in Singha Durbar today, Chairman Regmi congratulated the cricket players by offering vermillion powder and garlands. On the occasion, he pledged to provide with Rs 350,000 each to all players and office-bearers, who participated in the championship. Noting that the diligence of players has made it possible to enhance good name of the country at the international level, the Chairman said that the national team should toil harder to get success in the World Cup Qualifiers to be held in New Zealand next year. Chairperson Regmi further said, 'The National Sports Council, Cricket Association of Nepal and Nepal government should engage their concerted efforts towards developing physical infrastructure for strengthening capacity of the cricketers." Also present on the occasion were Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation and Youth and Sports Ram Kumar Shrestha and Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudel. Meanwhile, the National Sports Council also honoured the winner team of ICC World Cricket League Division-3 on Wednesday. Amid a programme organized by the Council here today, Minister for Sports Ram Kumar Shrestha offered bouquets along with letter of appreciation and expressed commitment that the government would work for the development and expansion of sports sector. National Sports Council member-secretary Yuba Raj Lama said that the victory has elevated the image of Nepal in international sports arena. Cricket Association of Nepal Chairperson Angbuwang Limbu said Nepal's cherished dream to take part in the word cup cricket has come closer to realization. National and International Athletes Association Chairperson Deepak Bista urged the state to give special attention for the development and expansion of cricket.
