UPDATE UNITY CONVENTION Kathmandu, 18 May:: The ongoing unity general convention of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) on Saturday approved a political document presented by RJP Co-Chairman Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani, RSS reports.. The closed session of general convention that approved Lohani's political report has incorporated various matters including party's commitments to republic, pluralism, complete press freedom, periodic election, human rights, nationalism, pro-people liberalism and inclusion. Besides, the closed-door session decided to activate the party in view of upcoming Constituent Assembly election. According to general convention publicity committee joint coordinator Kiran Giri, so far over 200 general convention representatives have put their views at the closed session. Their views focused on present political situation of the country, party's organisational strengthening and future strategy. The closed session also approved separate proposals on different matters presented by Arjun Rai, Pratibha Rana, Thakur Singh Tharu and Shreedhar Pariyar. Deliberations on the party statue amendment proposal presented by Parshuram Khapung were underway, it is learnt. The RPP-RJP unity general convention has begun since Friday. Although it was earlier scheduled to conclude on Sunday, it is expected to extend as many representatives wished to put forth their views at the closed session, Giri said. nnnn
