DR, MAHAT ASKS SUPPORT FOR DEUBA INDIA VISIT Kathmandu, 14 June:: Central Member of the Nepali Congress Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat has called one and all not to suspect the visit of senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba to India. At a press conference organized by the Nepal Press Union in Beni, Myagdi today, he said Deuba had gone to India for strengthening relations between the two countries as a former prime minister, RSS reports from Myagdi. . He made this remark at a time when there was rumor that President Sushil Koirala and Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel had suspected about the visit on giving importance by the Indian government. He said India had always played positive role for Nepal´s development, peace and change, but backing any one particular party and person will only be dangerous. Stating that now election environment had been created as election date was declared, he said there was no alternative for the dissenting parties to participating in the election. Mahat also said NC will not make any election alliance, and added that the Madhesi and Maoist (UCPN-Maoist) alliance will not be successful. He also said the country can sustain only six or seven provinces of federalism on the basis of language, ethnic group and geography. Mahat said federalism was to be accepted after the Madhes movement. He was here to participate in the second district conference held after the Fifth District Convention of NC Myagdi. nnnn
