Nnnn UPDATE TERAI BANDH Kathmandu, 6 June: The indefinite Tarai bandh enforced by the Freed Kamlari Struggle Committee has affected normal life in Dang district on Friday, RSS reports from Tulipu, Dang.. The struggle committee has called for a general strike in 22 districts of Tarai, demanding that identity cards be issued to them, treatment be provided to those who were injured in course of picketing the Singh Durbar on June 2 and action against the perpetrators. Schools, colleges, markets and transport have been totally halted in the area due to the general strike. The committee has warned to continue the bandh until and unless their demands are addressed. Meanwhile, life in Kailali district has returned to normal after the Freed Kamlari Struggle Committee withdrew the indefinite Tarai bandh from today. Schools, colleges and markets have opened and transport has come into regular operation after the committee took back its bandh programme. Though the talks with the government have not reached to a conclusion, the bandh has been lifted considering the difficulty faced by the people, said Prabhat Kumar Chaudhary of the Tharu Welfare Council. nnnn PAUDEL SAYS NC REQUIRES MAJORITY Kathmandu, 6 June: Vice President of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Paudel, has said that it was necessary for Nepali Congress to bring majority in the election to promulgate a democratic constitution from the next Constituent Assembly (CA), RSS reports from Kavre.. Paudel said that the task of promulgating the constitution was not completed as NC could not get majority in previous CA, so it needs majority to complete the task. Addressing the mass meeting organised by the NC Mahadevsthan VDC, Kavre, in Kavre district today, Paudel directed the party cadres to engage in election as the election was going to be held by third week of November. He said there was no alternative to election for giving an outlet to the existing political crisis and for the development of the country. Paudel further said that support from all walks of life was necessary to make the CA election a success. nnnn
