NEW DELHI, JUN 27 - Indian Foreign Ministry on Thursday published the official announcement that Ranjit Rae has been appointed as the new ambassador for Nepal. According to the ministry, Rae would come to Nepal to take the office ‘very soon’. Although it was said that current ambassador Jayant Prasad ’s tenure would be extended by two months, the ministry informed that Rae would be taking the office sooner to match the calendar of events in the south block. It is said that Rae is neither as strict as former ambassador Rakesh Sood nor as linient as Jayant Prasad . Rae is currently the ambassador for Vietnam. Rae was looking after the affairs of Nepal and Bhutan as the joint secretary in the foreign ministry during the second People’s Movement.
