RAIN CONTINUES FOR FOURTH DAY TUESDAY Kathmandu, 18 June: Rain along the Nepal-India border continued on the fourth day Tuesday in the far-West where it terrorized people leaving a trailof death and destruction especially along the bank of the turbulent Makahali river People and houses along the bank of the border dividing India and Nepal have been washed away as residents were shifted to safer ground. Darchula district headquarters Khaalanga was badly hit terrorizing residents. Government and private houses were washed away. First reports said unilateral construction of an embankment across the river in India eroded banks on the Nepalesse side of the river. India opened all sluices of the Sharada barrage to release the water. Ferocious rain hit the region in the far-West as the monsoon hit the region in India eight days earlier. The annual rain has reached the Pakistan border, radio reports said.. nnnn
