Nnnn NC’S PAUDEL, LIKE DEUBA, ALSO AGAINST REGMI RESISGNATION AS CJ Kathmandu, 1 June: At a time some political leaders have raised voices, demanding the resignation of Chairman of election Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, as Chief Justice, Vice-President of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Paudel, has said once Chairman Regmi resigns as Chief Justice, it would create problems in government and Constituent Assembly electionm RSS reports. "It is a constitutional provision that incumbent Chief Justice becomes the Chairman of the election Council of Ministers. And, once he resigns from the CJ post, it would create new problem as who would be the head of government. Therefore, CA election must be held within third week of November to give political outlet, and rid the country from further crisis," he stressed. Speaking at a programme organised by Nepal Student Union's Lamjung-Kathmandu Liaison Committee in the Capital today, leader Paudel said party President Sushil Koirala had not demanded Chairman Regmi's resignation but given suggestion to the Chairman Regmi to address the demands of agitating parties including Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist. Moreover, Vice-President Paudel said there are several countries including Greece and Bangladesh which had the election under the leadership of Chief Justice.
