UML CHAIRMAN KHANAL ASKS GOVT. TO PROMULGATE ELECTIO ORDINANCE AND ANNOUNCE ELECTION DATE Kathmandu, 11 June: One day after constituents of a high-level political Mechanism (HLPM) couldn’t agree on election law for constituent assembly elections, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal Tuesday met and asked Chairman Khil Raj Regmi to formally announce the date for a vote. Khanal, current chairman of the GLPM< also asked Regmi to promulgate the ordinance on electoral laws unilaterally. Khanal briefed Regmi on Monday’s decision of the mechanism with UCPN Maoist, NC, UML and Madeshi Morchaa as constituents. Regmi, in response, pledged to promulgate the election ordinance by inc orporating the suggestions of the major parties. Khanal told reporters parties will accept electoral ordinance to be promulgated by government. .
