Nnnn TAME THOSE TRYING TO DISRUPE VOTE SAYS KOIRALA Kathmandu, 1 June:: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala has said that the country is in need of peace, stability, democracy and development, and election is the way that could address the national needs. RSS reports.. Talking to journalists after a tea reception organized in the capital on Saturday, President Koirala said that the NC would not leave any stone unturned for the cause of peace, stability and democracy and it also would be able to give alternative to that end. The NC Chief went on to say that people will tame those maneuvering to disrupt the electoral process as election is the only alternative to address current political problems. "People should respond accordingly if any unscrupulous element opts for disrupting the election process. Therefore, all political parties should take part in the election if they are committed to peace, stability, democracy and development," Koirala noted. Responding to a query about increasing doubt whether election will take place in the country, he replied that election is a chance to break the current political impasse so that it is sure to take place. "The country has witnessed growing irregularities in development works and mismanagement of budget in the absence of election for long," he said, adding that the election is a must to address people's aspirations to exercise their democratic rights. Hinting at the CPN-Maoist's deferral for registering party in the Election Commission (EC), President Koirala expressed the hope that they would get the Maoist on board after holding dialogue with them as this is not a final deadline for the parties to get registered in the EC. The solution to this effect could be explored through consensus among the political parties since the election date is yet to be declared, he added. He reiterated the Congress's stance on the provision of voters' threshold and the number of CA members at 491, stating that it could also be a matter of discussion for consensus once the taskforce furnished recommendation in this respect. The NC President also expressed the confidence that the political parties will come to a point after the high-level political meeting on June 3. nnnn
